Members to an incentive program designed to accommodate and benefit all types of exercisers: young, old, special populations (members with closed head injury, stroke, etc.), members from our sport-specific program and city employees involved with our facility. There was a need to encourage more physical activity, and to educate members on its benefits for their specific needs and goals. read more »

Selenium is an essential dietary mineral whose exact recommended daily intake remains unknown. Low tissue levels of selenium, inadequate dietary intake of the mineral, or both have been associated with numerous illnesses, but an actual benefit of taking selenium supplements has not been found for any disease other than cancer, and even there the evidence is incomplete.

“You do check your breasts every month, don’t you?” my doctor asked, narrowing her eyes slightly to emphasize the importance of the question.
“I do,” I answered brightly.
But just as you can never tickle yourself or adequately scratch that itchy place on your back, so, perhaps, had my own self-examinations proven unsatisfactory. The doctor’s hand circled my left breast once, squeezing and palpating. She frowned, moved back to the 2:15 position and pressed harder. “You have something here,” she said neutrally. “Would you like to feel it yourself?”
